McDonald's UK staff protest poor salaries, engage in first ever strike

- Staff lament zero hour contracts and poor wages.

- Complain about lack of union rights.
Following years of receiving wages just around the standard minimum wage, a group of McDonald's UK staff have engaged in a strike in London, protesting their pitiable wage structure and their lack of Union rights.

The strike was engaged in with other fast food workers across the country.

Some of their demands included a pay rate that was in line with with the living wage, improved working contracts (eradication of zero hour contracts) and access to union rights.

The Fast Food workers staged their protest outside the Houses of Parliament in the capital, London, alongside union workers and politicians.

This strike by McDonalds workers is the first ever to be recorded in the UK.
