According to a recent United Nations declaration, Yemen is currently experiencing the "World's worst cholera outbreak".

Aljazeera reports that "According to the latest figures, more than 1,700 people have died since late April from the highly contagious bacterial infection, which can kill within hours if left untreated".

With more than 320,000 suspected cases of cholera and at least 5,000 cases recorded daily, the UN has blamed both sides of the ongoing conflicts for the deadly outbreak.

Two years of conflict have killed more than 10,000 people, wounded tens of thousands and displaced millions.
