Budget Padding in Edo State. Obaseki Launches investigation

- Obaseki orders investigation into budget padding.

- Wants the masterminds brought to book.
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has ordered that an investigation be launched to unmask the people behind the recent budget padding in the state. A budget of N283 million was sent to the governor for a project that eventually cost just 30 million.

The said budget was for conducting the First School Leaving Certificate Examinations across the state.

Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu disclosed this to journalists recently.

According to the commissioner, "A memo was sent to the governor for the conduct of the examination and N283 million was earmarked for the examination which eventually cost N30 million, and the governor is not comfortable with this. He has directed that those responsible for the disparity be identified and brought to book," Ohonbamu said.
