EFCC Beef Up Security around Magu and his Family after Gunmen Attack

- Gunmen attack EFCC Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday 16th of August.

- Incident has been reported to Police.

According to The Nation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have beefed up the security around their acting director Magu in the aftermath of the gunmen attacks received yesterday.

The family members of most senior officials have also received increased security and the most notable of them is Magu's mother who lives in Maiduguri in Borno State.

The attack on the EFCC premises on Wednesday 16th August has been reported to the Police who swiftly deployed detectives from the Police Headquarters to assess the situation.

Wilson Uwujaren in a statement to journalists said "The attack on the Zone 7 office, which houses the Commission's AMCON Desk, Procurement Fraud and Foreign Exchange Malpractices Sections, is coming few weeks after another investigator, Austin Okwor, was shot and injured by unknown assailants in Port Harcourt, Rivers state."

According to a source close to the EFCC, several top investigators and heads of stations across the country have been receiving threats in the past few months.

"None of us has been spared, but we did not envisage that the situation will degenerate to violent attacks on our office. 

"Security has been beefed up at the affected annex office and other strategic safe houses of EFCC," the source said.
