- Madrid may appeal Ronaldo's suspension.

In a match that saw some of the best counter attacks from Real Madrid in recent times, tongues have been left wagging since the final whistle.

After initially conceding through an own goal by Gerard Pique in the early periods of the second half, Barcelona seemed to have found restoration shortly afterwards when a controversially awarded penalty was scored by Lionel Messi. This however was shortlived as Cristiano Ronaldo scored a stunner around the 80th minute. The Real Madrid star man took his shirt off during his celebrations and this gesture earned him a yellow card.

Moments later, the Real Madrid Star man dropped down in the Barcelona box and instead of getting a penalty awarded as he would have preferred, the Referee game him a second yellow card and consequently a Red.
In a bid to plead his case and perhaps out of frustration, Ronaldo appeared to have slightly pushed the Referee before eventually leaving the field.

As a result of the altercation with the Referee, Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for 4 games within Spain. This means that he will miss next Wednesday's return fixture at home to Barcelone and an additional three games. However, sources close to Real Madrid have indicated that the club are likely to appeal the suspension of their prolific forward.
