Federation Cup: FC IfeanyiUbah qualify for final

FC Ifeanyi Ubah yesterday qualified for the final game of the 2016 Federation Cup after crushing Crown FC 2-1 in a tension soaked semi-final game at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna.

It is the first time the Anambra Warriors will play in the cup final, after only two years in the Nigerian football competitions.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side dug into their reservoir of experience to subdue the ambitious Crown FC in a match that forced spectators , including the President of the Anambra Warriors, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah to the edges of their seats.

Crown FC shot into the lead after 15 minutes, but the Warriors fought back and equalized through Elu Wilson after 21 minutes.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah increased their goals tally to two in the 56th minute through a spot kick neatly converted by Cameroonian midfielder Tamen Medrano.

The game was temporarily delayed when Crown FC fans invaded the pitch and attacked the referee after he ruled a ball in the net as offside.

But play continued after the disruption as the Anambra Warriors held on to the 2-1 lead till the final whistle.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah will slug it out with the winners of the second semi-final between Enyimba and Nasarawa United which holds today in Ibadan.

The winners of the Federation Cup will represent Nigeria in next year's CAF Confederation Cup.
