Serena Williams Beat Roger Federer's Grand Slam Record

After a disappointing Olympics, Serena Williams has bounced back for a record-breaking performance at the U.S. Open.

On Monday, the tennis champion passed Roger Federer's record for most career Grand Slam match wins with 308 to her name. The record number came after she defeated Yaroslava Shvedova in the fourth round of the U.S. Open.

"It's a huge number," Williams said after the game. "I think it's something that just really talk about the length of my career, in particular. I've been playing for a really long time. But also, given that consistency up therethat's something that I'm really proud of."

Williams was recently hailed in a Nike ad as the "greatest athlete ever." The ad echoed the athlete's July remarks at a Wimbledon press conference, when she said that she'd prefer to be called the greatest athlete of all time rather than the greatest female athlete.

Records Williams still has left to beat: Steffi Grafs Open-era record of 22 Grand Slam tournament titles (Williams is currently tied) and Margaret Courts all-time record of 24.
