Anti-China Activists Take LegCo Seats in Hong Kong Elections

A new generation of anti-china activists have won seats on Hong Kong's Legislative Council, LegCo.
Among them is 23-year-old Nathan Law, one of the young leaders of the mass pro-democracy demonstrations of 2014, also known as the Umbrella Revolution.
This marks the first taste of real political power for the young protest leaders. However, pro-Beijing politicians will retain a majority of seats, partly because of the electoral system.
The election is the first in the territory since the 2014 protests, which saw central areas of Hong Kong paralyzed by mostly young protesters.
The demonstrators were demanding greater democracy for Hong Kong amid concerns that Beijing is increasingly interfering in the territory's politics.
Their demands were however shut down by Beijing, which gave no concessions to the protesters.
