Bauchi bailout funds: Dogara lied against me - Gov Abubakar

Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday explained himself to President Muhammadu Buhari concerning the allegations of misappropriation of the state's bailout funds levelled against him by the Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and members of the National Assembly from the state.
The governor said the allegation was false and stemmed from his decision to toe the line of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in withdrawing support for Dogara's ambition to emerge as House Speaker in 2015.
Emerging from the meeting with Buhari at the State House, Abuja, the governor said the President, after listening to him, advised him to ignore Dogara and other critics and concentrate on his job of governing Bauchi State.
Dogara himself had previously met with Buhari to state his own side of the story but the gulf between the two has grown wider despite efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reconcile them.
The governor told State House correspondents that "My problem with Dogara started during the elections of the leadership of the National Assembly. I stood on the side of the party.
"I said every Bauchi lawmaker should toe the line of the party. You know that Bauchi had a candidate (Dogara) but I said irrespective of that, we should toe the line of the party.
"Nine out of the 11 lawmakers did that but later the candidate of Bauchi won and it's common knowledge and he is in a position to dispense favours and all the lawmakers went to his side.
"The fact is politics in Bauchi State is played in Abuja and not in Bauchi. The people of the state are intact with the party."
Asked how Buhari responded to his submission, Abubakar said:
