Ubulu-Uku: Teenage king set to receive staff of office

Delta State Government has indicated that it will on September 5, 2016 present staff of office to the 17-year old king of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Obi Noah Chukwukah Akaeze I, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

Akaeze I was chosen to succeed his father, Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue III, who was murdered by kidnappers in January 2016.
However, there are strong indications that some kingmakers are against the choice of the young king.

According to Chief Emma Ejiofor, the Onishe of Ubulu Uku kingdom, the murdered king, Ofulue III, allegedly usurped the throne of his elder half-brother, Okuchuku, born by a European woman to their faced father.

But the government had indicated that the protests lack substance, since there is no evidence to prove the point.

The staff of  office will be presented to the new king as a result of the conclusion of all traditional rites to the ascension of the throne by the community.
