Alleged N17bn fraud in Kogi: Group petitions EFCC, ICPC, Buhari

The Kogi State Government has been accused of laundering and misappropriation of over N11 billion state funds by a civil society organisation, Egalitarian Mission Africa, which has now petitioned the anti-graft agencies, over the matter.
The petition was submitted on Tuesday to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission, ICPC, by Olatunde Ojeomo on behalf of the group.
The convener of the group, Kayode Ajulo, an Abuja-based lawyer, said the group had sent copies of the document to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari.
Ajulo said: "The move became necessary given that the Buhari-led administration has said it had zero-tolerance for corruption and we have seen that what is going on in Kogi is sheer wanton looting and embezzlement.
"I am not from Kogi, but we have an interest in issues of good governance anywhere in the country.
"What is important is to ensure that the President knows what is going on and takes action."
