Police stations to be set up in Arepo creeks and co.

In a bid to completely dislodging vandals and militants, the Nigeria Police on Wednesday said Police divisions as well as intensive surveillance would be mounted around the Arepo, Ikorodu and Ijegemo camps in Lagos and Ogun States.
Assistant Inspector-General, AIG, Zone 2, Onikan, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, gave this hint while briefing newsmen on strategic measures put in place by the zone to ensure safety of life and property of residents within both states.
Cheques of N500,000 each were also presented to seven next-of-kins of policemen who were killed  during active duties, noting that it was a demonstration of the acting Inspector-General of Police's commitment to the welfare of his men.
He consequently gave a marching order to Commissioners of Police in both states to deal decisively with any group that attempts to cause unrest in the states.
He said: "Efforts are on to establish platforms in Ibafo, Ikorodu and Arepo. By this, I mean there will be intensive police presence around these areas such as area patrol, surveillance, aimed at nipping activities of miscreants and hoodlums in the bud.  At the end of joint Military/Police exercise at Arepo, we will establish these platforms with full police stations there. I have also advised the CPs to be more aggressive in their patrols around these areas."
Ali noted that he had established an operational outfit named Zonal Intervention Squad in both states aimed at assisting in crime control and maintenance of law and order.
He said, "I set up the squad to specifically deal decisively with any group, miscreants, hoodlums or any name they come with it. They spent weeks with our mobile squad during the training process and have been given more teeth to bite."
