Budget Padding Scandal: Tambuwal backs Dogara

Going by recent reports, the embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has garnered more support, as he is being heavily backed by the Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, who has reportedly thrown his weight behind the Speaker as he faces accusations of budget padding from a former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
Tambuwal has reportedly been mobilising support for the Speaker, from some members of the House from the North-West.
However, investigations reveal that while the Sokoto State Governor has succeeded in convincing the North-West members of the House to support Dogara, he has not gotten much success with lawmakers from the South-West, who have declined to support the Speaker.
Findings showed that members from the South-West still remember the role Tambuwal played in the emergence of Dogara as the Speaker in June 2015, dumping Femi Gbajabiamila, the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
It was learnt that the budget crisis would have been resolved if the South-West members had signed the list of those who were ready to pass vote of confidence in Dogara.
Most members from the zone, however, decided to be neutral by supporting neither Dogara nor Jibrin.
