Appeal Court upholds the election of Yahaya Bello

The Court of Appeal on Thursday upheld the election of Yahaya Bello as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.
It would be recalled that Bello's election had been challenged by James Faleke, the running mate of the late APC-flagbearer in the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Faleke had asked the tribunal to declare him Governor because he campaigned on the same ticket as Audu, and the election of late Abubakar Audu was almost concluded before he died.
Upon the sudden death of Bello, the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which then asked the party- APC- to nominate a replacement.
Bello was nominated, and he nominated Mr. Faleke as his deputy; an offer the latter found unacceptable.
Faleke's petition was dismissed by the tribunal on June 6.
