Rio 2016: Siasia names Mikel Captain of Football Team

Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has been appointed as Captain of the Nigerian Football Team going into the men's football tournament at the Rio Olympic Games, by Head Coach, Samson Siasia.
Mikel now doubles as the Captain of Team Nigeria at the games as well.
Making the announcement on Saturday while meeting with players and other officials, Coach Siasia said the choice  was automatic as Mikel is the Captain of the Super Eagles and also the Captain of Team Nigeria to the Games.
He said, "It's just natural for me to pick Mikel as our captain.
Aside the fact that he is the Captain of the Super Eagles, he is also Team Nigeria Captain.
"It is a thing of joy for my team to produce the first footballer to captain Team Nigeria to the Olympics. This, to me, is more than gratifying."
Mikel has been unanimously accepted Mikel Obi as team Captain by the players, who expressed delight at the role he has been playing since he joined the team.
On his part, the Chelsea player expressed joy at the appointment, stating that it was an honor which must yield results in Brazil.
The Nigeria U23 team departs Atlanta, United States of America, for Brazil, on August 1.
