Coaches get deadline to apply for Eagles job

Chris Green, chairman technical committee of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) may be heading on a collision course with Amaju Pinnick president of the federation over the choice of a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.
Green, it was gathered, sensationally stormed out of a meeting chaired by president Amaju Pinnick to decide on a new foreign coach for Nigeria.
The disagreement, it was further gathered, had to do with the role Green's technical committee will play in the selection of the new Nigerian coach, according to africanfootball.com.
The NFF has therefore advised any coach desirous of becoming the new Super Eagles' handler to apply for the job before Wednesday, July 6.
The federation, which said in a statement yesterday that it would announce the list of candidates for the job on Friday, said the Wednesday deadline for the coaches would give the technical and development committee enough time to study the candidates' profile before picking the right person for the position.
It was learnt, Green had taken exception to only him(Pinnick) being on a committee that will shortlist and then interview the prospective coaches.
"Green walked out on the meeting but not without firing warning to the NFF president. They were very choice words.
"It is now left to be seen what will be the way forward in the country's quest to get started for the World Cup qualifiers in October."
The technical committee was reportedly sidetracked in the appointment of the last Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.
"They only rubber stamped Oliseh's appointment," an official revealed.
Nigeria, without a permanent coach since February, faces a daunting task to qualify for a sixth World Cup after they were drawn in 'The Group of Death' qualifying tournament along with Africa's No.1 ranked team Algeria, nine-time World Cup finalists Cameroon and 2012 African champions Zambia.
