Acting IGP withdraws mobile policemen from individuals

The services of mobile policemen acting as security aides to individuals, was on Saturday withdrawn by the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris.

Idris, who was speaking at the passing out parade of 59 Squadron Commanders Combat Operation Course at the Police Mobile Force Training School in Ila Orangun, Osun State, said the police mobile force was the striking arm of the police, and officers of the unit should not be used as a security aides for individuals.

It was his first official assignment after his announcement as the Acting IG.

The passing-out ceremony is coming after three weeks of intense Combat Operative Seminars and Training.

The Squadron members, selected from across the country, are now set to proceed to their various duty posts.

Mr Idris admonished policemen and officers especially those in the Mobile Unit to rise up and nip Nigeria's security challenges in the bud.

Touching on the subject of persistent clashes between farmers and herdsmen across Nigeria, the Acting IGP also said he was ready to work towards bringing the violence to an end.
