Ogun APC chieftain petitions Oyegun over his suspension

The Chairman of Ijebu-Ode chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Ladi Lekuti, has condemned his purported suspension from the party.
Lekuti, who has petitioned the National Chairman of the Party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, stated that his suspension from office by Ogun State Executive Committee of the party ran contrary to the provision of the party's constitution, which stipulated the conditions to be met before any punishment could be meted out to any erring member.

In the petition dated June 20, 2016 and made available to news men in Abuja, Lekuti accused a powerful cabal within the party that was bent on ensuring his removal from office.

He noted that it was unfortunate that the state executive committee did not deem it fit to reply any of his letters and petitions on the various nefarious and spurious allegations made against him before suspending him from office.

In a letter written by his counsels, Messers Ajibola Kaka & Co the party chieftain said he is "of firm legal opinion that the state Exco has acted ultra vires of the constitution of the party. Article 21 clearly envisages fair hearing and thus made provision for it when disciplining any member.

"The question that arises is: can it be said that the state EXCO is fair in the manner this allegation and counter allegation is being handled? The answer is no. We are of firm legal opinion that the state EXCO has taken side without being fair to both sides.

"None of our client's letters, petitions, and reactions have been treated nor reacted to. The provisions of Article 21, paragraph A-B was grossly abused and as such the purported suspension cannot stand because you cannot put something on nothing and expect to stand. It must definitely collapse.
