We're owing Amodu only 2 months salary- NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday cleared the air on its debt to its late Technical Director, Amodu Shuaibu, insisting that the late former Super Eagles Coach is owed only two months' salary and not seven as claimed by some alleged critics of the federation.

The federation also dispelled the claims in some quarters that the unpaid seven months' salary was responsible for his death.

The General Secretary of the federation, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who set the record straight while fielding questions from journalists at the Glass House yesterday stressed that there, is no iota of truth in the claims that the federation is responsible for his death.

Sanusi further explained that the two months salary arrears was not peculiar with the late Amodu, adding that all the other directors at the NFF, including himself have not collected salary for the past two months.

"As Muslims and Christians in Nigeria, we believe in destiny meaning that whatever comes is from God. Life and death belong to God and I want to believe that this is one of it.

"I can authoritatively confirm to you that the federation owes him two months' salary and it is not peculiar with him. I, all the directors and management staff were equally oweds two months salaries including the coaches.

"I don't know where the report of NFF owing him seven months' salary is coming from but I can tell you confidently that the federation owes him two months. I have not also heard him complain of NFF neglecting him in terms of accommodation," he said.
