SSS busts ISIS sleeper cell in Kano...5 suspects arrested

Five persons have been arrested in Kano by the State Security Service. The suspects are allegedly connected to the creation of sleeper ISIS training cells in the state, and were on their way to Libya and other African countries when they were apprehended.

The Director of the SSS in Kano, Abdullahi Chiranchi, told journalists on Thursday, that the arrest was a significant breakthrough in blocking every possible move to make Kano a training ground for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, ISIS.

He said those arrested were from Kogi State and were moving to Libya, Morocco and other places with ISIS presence.

The names of the suspects were however, not disclosed.

Reuters however reported on Thursday, that officials of the United States Government disclosed that there was no evidence of a clear link between ISIS and Boko Haram; and that the pledge of allegiance to ISIS by the Boko Haram sect was merely for branding purposes.
