Charge me to court or release me- FFK files suit against the EFCC

In response to his continued detention, Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria's Former Minister of Aviation, has filed a suit against the EFCC before an Abuja High Court; seeking the enforcement of his fundamental human rights.
Fani-Kayode was invited for questioning by the Commission on May 9, and has been detained since then.
In his application, Mr. Fani-Kayode's Counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe said his client's continued detention was unlawful; and prayed the court to compel the EFCC to either release his client, or charge him to court.
In response, the EFCC counsel, Salisu Maji-Dadi said the commission had not acted outside the provisions of the law in its detention of Mr. Fani-Kayode; as it had obtained a court order to detain him prior to the day he was detained.
Going further, Mr. Maji-Dadi stated that before the court order expired on May 24, the EFCC again obtained another court order from a Magistrate Court in Lagos to further detain Mr. Kayode till June 15. He thus submitted that the detention of the applicant was by no means unlawful.
The case was adjourned till June 29.
The EFCC invited Mr. Fani-Kayode for questioning over the alleged payment of N840m into his account on the eve of the 2015 general elections.
The money is suspected to have come from the $2.1billion Arms Fund which was allegedly misappropriated by a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd.).
Mr. Fani-Kayode, who served as spokesman for the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign in 2015, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
