FG has no plans to forcefully acquire land for grazing- Ogbeh

On the issue of the proposed National Grazing Reserves in the country,  Nigeria's Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Audu Ogbe, has disclosed that there are no plans by the Federal Government to forcefully acquire any land.

This clarification was made by the Minister in reaction to concerns coming from the Southern part of the country that the FG would forcefully take land for the project.

Ogbeh disclosed that the Government's aim was to end conflict; and not aggravate it by forcefully acquiring land. He also revealed that 11 Northern States-  Plateau, Jigawa, Gombe, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Taraba, Niger and the FCT- had already volunteered 50,000 hectares of land; and there would be no further need for more, if properly utilized.

The Minister said the Ministry of Agriculture will work in conjunction with Federal Lawmakers to fine-tune the bill and also make necessary input.
