APC sets Edo governorship election form at N5.5 million

All intending aspirants for the September 2016 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress are expected to pay an expression of interest fee of N500,000, before they would cough out another N5m for the nomination form.

The amount is part of the requirements released by the APC National Secretariat yesterday in Abuja ahead of the party's primary for the election.

Speaking to journalists yesterday, the National Organising Secretary of the party, Osita Izunaso, noted that women are free to pick the form without paying the stipulate amount, adding that APC will encourage women to play partisan politics by being exempting from making any payment for the form.

"In line with the Electoral Act and the party guidelines as well as interface with the INEC timetable, the party has approved the timetable for the governorship primaries in Edo State.

By June 6, we expect all the aspirants who obtained the forms to have filled them and submitted the forms at the party's national headquarters in Abuja.
On Wednesday, June 8, the screening exercise will be conducted for all the aspirants who bought the forms. The exercise will continue until June 12. If there are issues arising from the screening exercise, the Appeal Committee will look at them from Monday, June 13 to June 15.
