Son Of Former Nigerian Chief Justice Uwais Who Joined ISIS Is Killed In Syrian Airstrike

Ibrahim Uwais, son of former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mohammed Uwais, has been reportedly killed in Syria in a United States (US) airstrike targeted at the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) terrorists' stronghold.

It was learnt that the late Ibrahim, who escaped from Nigeria in February last year with his wives and children to join ISIS, died near Aleppo, Syria during the fierce aerial bombardment of the terrorists' enclave.

It was also gathered that Ibrahim was one of the numerous Islamist terrorists who died as US military aircraft bombarded known ISIS camps near the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo.

According to News agency of Nigeria NAN reports, "Ibrahim died today (yesterday) on the battlefield in Aleppo," adding that the family would soon be notified of the death by one of the two wives who accompanied him to join the ISIS.

Ibrahim Uwais scurried out of Nigeria in 2015 on the pretext that he was going to Turkey for some business exploration. He went with his two wives and five children. He was said to have moved into Syria with his entire family and joined the terrorists as a volunteer fighter alongside others who travelled from different parts of the world to be conscripted into the ISIS.

Justice Uwais, who was Nigeria's Chief Justice from 1995 to 2006, has consistently declined comments on his son's elopement and link with the terrorist group.
