Tension as Olisa Metuh falls off chair, rushed to National Hospital

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, was yesterday rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja, after he fell from a swivel chair during the inauguration of the Borno and Kebbi States' Caretaker Committees.

Metuh was about to take his seat during the event when he slipped off the chair reserved for him.
It took about 10 minutes before he could be assisted on his feet by two policemen attached to the office of the party's National Chairman, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff.
Metuh, who could not walk properly after he was assisted from the floor, was virtually carried to his car through the back gate before he was rushed to the hospital.
The PDP spokesman had earlier complained of backache.
One of his associates told our correspondent that Metuh hit his back on the floor, which further compounded the backache.

He said Metuh could not help himself and failed to walk even in the hospital.
The associate said: "As I am speaking with you now he cannot walk; we don't know the level of damage he sustained when he fell. He has being battling with backache; we are praying he comes out of it."

Meanwhile, Sheriff has said that new membership cards will be used for the forthcoming Kebbi and Bono States congresses.
Sheriff, who stated this while inaugurating a nine member caretaker committee, each for Kebbi and Borno, explained that the development became imperative because of the volatile nature of the states.

This comes as the National Woman Leader of the party, Dr. Kema Chikwe, disclosed that she will not seek re election in the forthcoming PDP National Convention scheduled for May 21 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
