The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arrested the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu.

Amosu was arrested Wednesday night at about 9pm and has since been detained by the anti graft agency.

His arrest is related to the ongoing probe into arms procured under the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan gathered momentum with the detention of the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

A top operative of the commission told our correspondent on Thursday that Amosu responded to a summon by the EFCC on Tuesday with another retired Air Vice Marshal and was taken into custody for the commencement of the investigation.

The source could not give the identity of the second military personnel being interrogated alongside the former Chief of Air Staff.

The EFCC commenced interrogation of 18 retired and serving top officials of the Armed Forces in relation to the ongoing probe into arms procured under the last Administration of President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari directed the EFCC to probe 18 top officers of the military comprising both retired and serving personnel on January 5, 2016 as part of the ongoing efforts to unravel the 2.1 billion arms scandal.

The operative confirmed that Amosu visited the EFCC on Wednesday and has been there since then.

The source could not say whether the former CAS would be released today or not.

"The former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, came yesterday in response to our invitation. We sent out invitation to them last week and they were expected to report with effect from Wednesday," the source said.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said that he did not have the information on the detention of the former Air Chief when contacted.

"I don't have that information," he said.
